Rod Bransgrove Pavilion / Roof Terrace at Utilita Bowl: choosing a Test seat

Look along the pitch from the southwest end of Utilita Bowl. The Rod Bransgrove Pavilion and its open Roof Terrace offer different ways to watch the 2027 Ashes.

Best for: An end-on view with the hotel as a backdrop, especially for a group comparing Pavilion hospitality.

Looking towards the Hilton End

The Pavilion puts the Hilton behind the far wicket, giving you a clear landmark as the bowlers change ends. From this southwest position, follow the bowler’s approach towards you and the slip cordon spreading behind the striker. An end-on angle rewards anyone who enjoys watching changes of line across a long spell.

Pavilion seating and the Roof Terrace are different products. The terrace gives a raised outlook; a lower Pavilion position brings the boundary closer. When comparing an offer, locate its actual watching area on the plan before considering the room or meal attached to it. A package named after the building can involve more than one part of the Pavilion.

For a second day, the Shane Warne or Colin Ingleby-Mackenzie side gives a useful change of perspective. Those positions show the batter’s movement across the crease more clearly; the Pavilion’s appeal is looking along the length of the contest. Keep that preference in mind when comparing packages at different prices.

Three sessions on the open terrace

The Roof Terrace is outdoors without an overhead roof. In the morning, early eastern light can reach the front of its northeast-facing position. Through the afternoon session the sun travels behind the Pavilion end, changing the direction of glare across the outfield. After tea it is towards the western side and rear.

Lower Pavilion seats respond differently because the structure can interrupt that light. For a July booking, distinguish a terrace place from a seat beneath an overhang: neither the building name nor a hospitality room tells you where you will watch. Take a hat for the opening session and a waterproof that stays beside your seat when you leave the indoor space.

A Pavilion day with your group

Choose the Pavilion when the shared meal and somewhere to meet between sessions matter alongside the cricket. A hospitality booking can suit friends arriving separately, provided everyone has admission to the same room and watching area. The terrace offers the outdoor experience above the Pavilion, while a lower seat puts you nearer the boundary activity.

The Arlott Atrium below is a public meeting point, but other Pavilion rooms have their own admission arrangements. A family booking needs the package’s junior conditions and any alcohol-free preference settled together. The 2027 Ashes allocation for those requirements is TBC; Pavilion access alone does not identify a family section.

Pavilion lifts, facilities and the hotel opposite

There is lift access to the Roof Terrace through the Pavilion facilities. Arrange the complete route with the ticket team if steps are difficult, including the route between your watching position and hospitality room. Pavilion accessible toilets and the Atrium information point are useful landmarks for this end of the ground.

For refreshments outside a package, the Arlott Atrium is the obvious place to orientate yourself before choosing a counter. Meet companions inside the area their tickets permit, keeping the public circulation route clear. Tell the booking team if a table position or short route to the toilet is essential to your day.

The on-site Hilton stands at the opposite end, so a Pavilion ticket and hotel stay involve crossing between two separate parts of the venue. Choose the room or matchday package by its stated inclusions. Ask about admission and re-entry if your plan includes returning to the hotel between sessions.

Booking the Pavilion for the Ashes

England play Australia here on 21–25 July 2027. Compare the exact Pavilion product for your chosen day: Roof Terrace access, a reserved cricket seat, indoor accommodation and meals should each be clear in the offer.

The Utilita Bowl Test guide carries the current ticket timetable. For a Pavilion hospitality enquiry, ask for the watching position first, then the dining and access arrangements. That order helps keep an attractive meal package from obscuring the cricket view you came for.
