Lord’s seating plan for a Test match
Start a Lord’s seating choice with the angle you enjoy watching, then narrow it by roof cover and the route to the row. Compton and Edrich put the Nursery End bowling near the centre of the picture; Grand and Mound let you watch across the square. This plan brings those choices together before you open the ticket selector. Its stand labels lead to the detailed guides, while MCC’s own booking map is where to inspect the seats actually on sale.

How the blocks and rows work at Lord’s
Lord’s uses a combination of stand names, levels and row references. The current MCC FAQs distinguish lettered and numbered rows in Grand and Mound, so a row number on its own is not enough to describe a seat. Keep the stand and tier attached to the reference when asking the ticket office a question.
In Grand, MCC identifies the lettered rows and numbered rows from 11 upwards as covered. Its Mound guidance identifies A–E and numbered rows from 16 upwards as covered. These are stand-specific rules; applying either threshold to Compton, Edrich or a different stand would be misleading.
Use MCC’s official ticket map and seat selector for the selected match day, including the block, row, individual seat number and any restriction. Our drawing shows the relationship between stands and wicket. It does not reproduce every seat or establish the sightline from a particular chair.
Compare the full seat reference before paying
Use the table to find two suitable stands, then open their guides alongside the live ticket map. Write down the full references of the seats you are considering. Compare whether the roof shelters the row, how many steps remain after reaching the concourse, and whether the ticket carries a restricted-view description. A lift to a stand level does not mean that every seat on that level has a level approach.
Best seats for…
Shade after lunch
Start with Grand’s covered rows on the western side. The roof and afternoon orientation make these a useful shortlist; check the actual row against MCC’s cover rule.
Behind the bowler’s arm
Compare Compton’s Nursery End blocks for the view towards the Pavilion. Seats around the curve are at different angles, so centre the wicket in the official seat view before selecting.
Atmosphere
Mound is our pick for a broad public-stand setting with a side-on view. This is an editorial choice based on its position; MCC does not classify it as a guaranteed singing or quiet section.

Families
Grand’s known covered-row threshold makes it easier to shortlist sheltered seats together. This is a practical family suggestion, not a claim that the stand is an alcohol-free family enclosure.

Wheelchair users
MCC lists covered elevated wheelchair areas in Compton as well as uncovered ground-level places. Discuss the precise level, companion position and approach with its accessibility ticket team.

Seating FAQs
Where is the best place to sit at Lord’s cricket ground?
Choose Compton or Edrich to compare Nursery End views along the pitch, or Grand for side-on cricket with covered rows. The best choice depends on your preferred angle, shelter and access needs.
Which Lord’s seats are covered?
MCC lists Grand’s lettered rows and numbered rows from 11 upwards as covered. In Mound, A–E and numbered rows from 16 upwards are covered. Other stands need their own row check.
Does this Lord’s seating plan show seat numbers?
It shows stands and their positions. Use MCC’s official ticket selector for the individual block, row and seat offered for your chosen match day.
Where should wheelchair users start their seat search?
Contact MCC’s accessibility ticket team. Compton has covered elevated wheelchair areas and uncovered ground-level positions; discuss the route and companion seat before choosing.
Is the Grand Stand an alcohol-free family stand?
This guide recommends its covered rows as a practical family option. It does not identify Grand as an alcohol-free enclosure.
