Headingley seating plan for a Test match

Headingley asks you to make several choices before reaching a seat number: which side of the wicket, which tier, and which enclosure’s rules suit your group. Use this plan to compare those choices for the women’s Ashes Test on 24–27 June 2027. The ground diagram shows the relationship between the stands; it is not a seat-by-seat booking map. Open Yorkshire’s live ticket selection when you are ready to choose an actual row.

Last checked 13 October 2026. Match-specific arrangements take priority.

How the blocks and rows work at Headingley

Yorkshire’s seating guide divides the Western Terrace into named enclosures and lettered blocks. A and B form the Fanzone. On the opposite corner, North East Lower Block R has the alcohol-free designation. North East and Howard both have separate upper and lower areas: keep the tier name alongside the stand when comparing tickets.

The published overview is not a full index of every row letter and seat number. Use Yorkshire’s official ticket map for the selected match and day, then check the seat description before paying. Exact numbering conventions across every stand are TBC here. A block letter identifies an area; it does not tell you whether a particular seat is under a roof, beside an aisle or reached without steps.

Choose the compromise before the row

An end-on position makes the bowler’s approach easier to follow. A side-on seat offers a clearer impression of the batter’s movement across the crease and a different view of the close field. Neither angle gives every detail equally well. For a multi-day visit, trying two compatible stands can be more interesting than chasing one supposedly perfect seat.

Best seats for…

Shade after lunch

Start with a covered Howard row at the southern end. Its roof is the useful feature to check; the leading rows and the edge of a canopy can have different exposure. Ask about the exact row if sustained shade is essential.

Behind the bowler’s arm

Trueman offers the northern bowling-line perspective. Compare it with the opposite Howard end if you prefer an elevated outlook; the better choice depends on whether watching the delivery or surveying the whole field matters most.

Atmosphere

Choose the named Western Terrace enclosure to suit your group. The Fanzone’s fancy-dress setting differs from Popular and 1863. Those categories help with planning, while the crowd at the women’s Test will have its own character.

Families

North East Lower Block R is the named alcohol-free family choice. Select that block specifically: a ticket elsewhere in the North East Stand does not carry the same designation. The area is open to the weather.

Wheelchair users

Howard provides accessible positions at more than one level. Discuss shelter, lift access and companion placement with Yorkshire before booking; an ordinary lower-tier seat is not equivalent to a designated wheelchair space.

Seating FAQs

Which stands are covered at Headingley?

Howard has covered seating and Trueman includes covered and uncovered areas. Western Terrace and North East seating are open. Check the exact row rather than relying on the stand name.

Where is the best place to sit at Headingley?

Choose Trueman or Howard for the bowling line, Western Terrace for its enclosure atmosphere, or North East Lower Block R for alcohol-free family seating.

How do Headingley seat numbers work?

The booking system combines the seating area with its block, row and seat details. Use Yorkshire’s live match map for the exact allocation; this guide does not reproduce individual seat numbers.

Is the whole North East Stand alcohol-free?

No. Yorkshire names Block R in North East Lower as the alcohol-free area. Other blocks and the upper tier should be checked separately.
