Kia Oval seating plan for a Test match

The Kia Oval’s long curved stands make the block as important as the stand name. JM Finn sweeps from a western side-on position towards the Vauxhall End, while SSE Energy Solutions faces across the wicket from the east. Bedser and the members’ Pavilion sit towards the other end. Use this larger plan to choose the angle first, then compare cover, access and the actual ticket area. Clicking a stand opens its detailed guide for a full day at the Test.

How the blocks and rows work at the Kia Oval

Surrey’s published ground map uses numbered entrance references around the bowl alongside lettered seating blocks. Those labels perform different jobs: an entrance helps you reach a section, while the block identifies the seating area. Surrey’s facilities guide also names toilets by numbered entrances and blocks, so keep the whole ticket reference handy when asking for directions.

Balcony names and levels matter too. Surrey’s family guidance identifies Balcony H within JM Finn for its T20 Family Zone. That is a competition-specific seating arrangement, not a rule for Test tickets. The members’ areas and public seats must be checked against the match you are actually booking.

Open Surrey’s official ticket seat selector for the exact block, row and seat number. Its published ground map helps locate entrances but does not provide a seat-by-seat layout. The direction of seat numbering and the view from a particular row should be checked in the current booking information.

Choosing between the Oval’s viewing angles

For a group, compare the practical needs of the person who will find the day most tiring. A roofed row, a manageable number of steps and a straightforward toilet route can matter more over three sessions than a small change in the angle to the pitch. Open the individual stand guide to examine those details, then check the ticket description for the seats that remain available.

Best seats for…

Shade after lunch

Start with roofed western JM Finn blocks. This is an orientation-based shortlist: the stand curves, so confirm the precise block and row instead of treating all JM Finn seats as equally shaded.

Behind the bowler’s arm

Compare the northern JM Finn curve at the Vauxhall End. Surrey describes Balcony H’s position behind the bowler’s arm in its family guidance; check Test-day availability and the adjacent blocks in the seat selector.

Atmosphere

SSE’s public seating offers a side-on setting for a group watching together. This is our positional recommendation; there is no official guarantee of a particular noise level for a Test block.

Families

Compare suitable JM Finn seats and ask Surrey about the Test’s family arrangements. Its advertised Xbox Family Zone in Balcony H applies to T20s, so do not assume that package accompanies an Ashes ticket.

Wheelchair users

JM Finn has designated viewing arrangements to discuss with Surrey’s access team. Ask for a specific location and companion seat, then check the route from your gate and the nearby accessible facilities.

Seating FAQs

Where is the best place to sit at the Kia Oval?

Compare northern JM Finn for a Vauxhall End view and SSE Energy Solutions for side-on cricket. Choose the actual block and row around your priorities for cover, access and the angle to the wicket.

Does the Kia Oval seating plan include seat numbers?

This plan locates the stands. Surrey’s official ticket selector is the place to check the block, row and individual seat for your match; the public ground map mainly identifies areas and entrances.

Which Oval stands are covered?

Cover varies within JM Finn, SSE, Bedser and the Pavilion. Confirm the particular row and level before booking, especially near a roof edge.

Is the Oval Family Zone available for a Test?

Surrey’s published Xbox Family Zone guidance is for T20 match days in JM Finn Balcony H. Ask Surrey about the family seating arrangements for the Test you want to attend.

Can a public Oval ticket use the members’ Pavilion?

Do not assume it can. The Pavilion has separate membership and ticket eligibility; check the permitted area when purchasing your Test ticket.
