Old Trafford seating plan for a Test match

Old Trafford’s seating plan is easier to read once you separate the stand letter from the block, tier and ticket category. The six stand guides below compare the ground’s main viewing areas, from family seating to the Pavilion. There is no Test here in the 2027 England programme: use this as a guide to choosing a future Test seat, and follow the correct fixture map for the white-ball internationals currently on sale.

Last checked 13 October 2026. Match-specific arrangements take priority.

How the blocks and rows work at Old Trafford

Lancashire groups seating under stand letters A to E and the Pavilion, with numbered blocks within those areas. Its international pricing plans use labels such as A6, A7 and E3–E6. The general guide also distinguishes upper and lower seating in B and C. Keep the complete block and tier description when asking the ticket office about a seat.

Use the official Stadium Seat View to compare approximate sightlines, then the live ticket map for an available seat. Lancashire warns that the viewer is illustrative and does not show spectators who could affect the view. Use your booking map for exact row letters and seat numbers. The diagram here compares the stand areas.

Compare the match map with the stand guide

Alcohol-free blocks are a good example. The general guide uses upper-B labels, while the 2027 international PDF names its designated blocks separately for each fixture. Follow the page for the match you are attending, and do not carry a white-ball block list into a later Test without checking. The future Test configuration remains TBC.

Shade after lunch

Compare the covered part of E first. Roofed and open tickets are both offered, so inspect the actual category and row. The stand guide explains why moving within E can change the balance of shelter and sunshine.

Behind the bowler’s arm

B includes bowling-line views as well as more angled positions towards mid-wicket. Select the block using the pitch on Lancashire’s viewer. Its higher seating gives a wider picture but introduces additional height and stairs.

Atmosphere

D is Lancashire’s party choice for groups and fancy dress, with a minimum age of sixteen. Check that its match-day category suits everyone travelling before comparing it with the neighbouring Lightning Stand C.

Families

Start with A and read the fixture’s family-ticket conditions. Lancashire requires an adult ticket there to be bought with a junior. Alcohol-free blocks are identified on the particular international plan; the designation does not cover every seat automatically.

Wheelchair users

E has accessible viewing reached through The Point. Discuss the position and companion seat with the ticket team, then compare B or C if their available arrangements better suit your group. Availability varies by fixture.

Seating FAQs

Which Old Trafford cricket stands are covered?

Stand E offers both covered and uncovered seating. Roof cover varies elsewhere, so use the exact ticket category and row when shelter is essential.

Where is the best place to sit at Old Trafford cricket ground?

Compare B for bowling-line views, covered E for shelter, A for family arrangements and D for a party setting. The best fit depends on your group.

How do Old Trafford cricket seat numbers work?

Stand letters identify the main areas, followed by block, tier where relevant, row and seat details. Use Lancashire’s official booking map for the exact seat allocation.

Which Old Trafford cricket blocks are alcohol-free?

Check the plan for your fixture. Lancashire’s 2027 plans identify specific blocks, and the list differs between matches; it is not a permanent rule for an entire stand.
