Parking at Edgbaston for a Test match

For an Edgbaston Test, sort out the parking before setting off for Birmingham. The public booking choices are separate from the stadium’s limited accessible allocation. A cricket ticket does not include a place for the car. For visitors who can comfortably use the train and shuttle, that is usually the easier starting point: it removes the need to find an available space near the ground.

Last checked 13 October 2026. Match-specific arrangements take priority.

Is there parking at Edgbaston cricket ground on Test days?

Edgbaston directs major-match drivers to advance parking bookings, with availability depending on the fixture. Use the official match parking link and choose the actual day of cricket. General spectators should plan around the advertised public car park; the stadium’s on-site accessible spaces require a separate reservation. The club’s conference parking arrangements do not apply to a Test crowd.

For Thursday 8 July 2027, the official operator listed Red Parking, postcode B29 7ES, at £35 when checked on 13 October 2026. Orange Parking was listed as Queen’s Ride accessible parking at £35 and showed sold out for that day. Other days have their own listings. Opening times, closing times and the published walk from these 2027 parking areas to your gate are TBC.

Book the correct car park and arrival route

Open the event selector for the remaining Test days and read the car-park name before paying. Keep the parking pass beside the match ticket, and send the car-park postcode to whoever is driving. The operator requires the booking to match the type of vehicle arriving; its terms say incorrect vehicle bookings can be refused without a refund.

Edgbaston’s city-centre shuttle is a rail connection, not an advertised park-and-ride car park. A dedicated Ashes park-and-ride service is TBC. If you prefer to leave your vehicle elsewhere in Birmingham and continue by public transport, compare the whole-day parking cost and final connection before committing. A cheap first hour is of little use when you will be at cricket until the evening.

Council parking and residential streets

Cannon Hill Park’s Russell Road car park is a council option beside the park, not an official reserved Test space. The council lists 40 spaces and a £6 charge for up to 16.5 hours, checked 13 October 2026. Charging runs from 7am to 11.30pm, but the council explicitly says to check the park’s opening and closing times. Payment is by pay-and-display or phone. A published gate-to-gate cricket walking time is TBC.

Keep council parking and the separately booked Queen’s Ride event allocation distinct. A general park tariff does not establish availability for an Ashes day. The ICC’s Edgbaston travel advice warns of street parking restrictions near the stadium and asks drivers to pre-book. Read the signs on the street you use; a residential road is not a dependable overflow car park.

JustPark and YourParkingSpace list privately offered spaces. Compare the address, vehicle dimensions, access instructions, cancellation conditions and the period covered by the booking. They are independent options, not Edgbaston’s official parking allocation. This guide includes no parking affiliate links.

Accessible and Blue Badge parking

Edgbaston’s accessibility page directs Blue Badge holders to reserve through tickets.edgbaston.com and says not to arrive without a booking. Contact the ticket office on 0121 369 1994 or tickets@edgbaston.com if the online choice does not meet your needs. The parking operator also displays available Blue Badge allocations under individual events.

Arrange the parking location and your viewing place together, including the route between them. The council’s Russell Road listing gives Blue Badge holders free parking without a time limit, but that separate car park does not provide a stadium reservation. See our Edgbaston accessibility guide for the seating and facilities discussion.

Better without a car

New Street plus the 501 shuttle is a useful alternative when the service runs for your fixture. The club lists departures from Smallbrook Queensway and return boarding by the Indoor School. Its published day passes are £6 adult and £4.50 child, checked 13 October 2026. Moseley Village station is another option, with the club putting the walk at 15–20 minutes. Compare these routes in Getting there.

Leaving after stumps

Edgbaston warns that major-event road closures may operate. Its current Blast guide also says vehicles in the on-site North Car Park are normally held for about 20–30 minutes while pedestrians leave. That is a published example of crowd management, not a confirmed Ashes exit timetable. Follow the instructions for your booked car park and check the 2027 match guide before arranging a collection.
